Swedish Meatball Sauce

This Swedish meatball sauce recipe is loaded with great flavor that will definitely compliment the best meatball recipe or a basic meatball recipe.

How To Make Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 can chicken broth (10 oz. 284ml)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Cooking Instruction

    1. Add butter to a medium-high heated pan.

    2. When butter is melted stir in flour for 30-45 seconds.

    3. Add chicken broth, bay leaves and sugar, stirring and scraping the bottom of the pan, bring to a simmer. Simmer until the sauce thickens about 4-5 minutes.

    4. Add ½ cup of heavy cream along with browned meatballs and simmer about 4-5 minutes.

    5. Remove pan from heat, remove bay leaves, stir in lemon juice and season with salt & pepper. Serve with noodles, potatoes or as a appetizer.
